NORDISKA MUSEET

The building of The National Museum of Cultural History of Sweden was erected in the style of Swedish Renaissance. The museum was founded by Artur Hazelius (1833-1901) who was its leader, too. The new building of the museum was opened in 1907.
Inside the building, in it's centre, one can see a huge statue of Gustav Vasa, the most powerful figure in the history of the town and whole Sweden. The statue was made by Karl Mill and set there in 1925. Gustav Vasa's statue is made of wood, painted and gilded.
There are about 1,000,000 items of Cultural History of Sweden in the museum: interior, furniture, traditions of Swedish life.
At the museum's shop you can find interesting books. They sell also postcards, handicraft and souvenirs.
There is a restaurant located here. It serves hot meals in Swedish style, coffee and fresh-baked bread.
There is a play-room for children in the museum. A small fee will be taken on weekends.
